With the arrival of this vessel Lady Maria Luisa this 2014, exportation of barite mineral restarts, receiving 58,507 tons bulk from Cobachi, Sonora and bound for Corpus Christi, Texas. Overcoming cargo received in 2013 and with the expectation of reaching 300,000 tonnes at the end of year.

Barite is a nonmetallic mineral with the chemical formula BaSO4. Also known as barytes or heavy spar, being one of its main features to be an inert, non-toxic material, and its mainly used in the oil industry.

Thanks to the commercial, operational and value-added multimodal platform, the port of Guaymas, remains steadfast in its expansion project that will undoubtedly central to the economy and competition from ports at national and international levels.

Move to Mexico through the port of Guaymas is a challenge in the coming years, but today is beginning to bear fruit to be increased cargo volumes of iron ore, grains and high agricultural potential in containerized cargo.
